It is the competitor’s responsibility to fully understand the course and rules. Since pattern is different, there will be another course walk-through for Open Jackpot class before the class starts.

Scoring for In-Hand, Youth & Adult Classes
Each obstacle is worth 10 pts. Points can be given in ½ increments. If an obstacle is not completed, a score of 0 will be given for that obstacle. If a rider is off course in the pattern order of obstacles, the obstacles completed correctly will only receive 1 pt. until rider is back on course. Rider will not be disqualified for being off course. Riders will still receive a score for the course.
0 – No attempt or obstacle not completed.
1 – Obstacle approached, uncooperative equine, 3 refusals but obstacle was completed.
2 – Obstacle approached, uncooperative equine, 2 refusals but obstacle was completed.
3 – Obstacle approached, uncooperative equine, 1 refusal but obstacle was completed.
4 – Obstacle complete, equine nervous and dancing around, rough but done.
5-6 – Obstacle completed w/slight deviation or hesitation, constant encouragement, equine finishes quickly.
7-8 – Obstacle completed willingly with no hesitation, slight deviation, side stepping but under control.
9-10 – Obstacle completed willingly with no hesitation, smoothly and focused; leaves obstacle calmly.

There will be a time limit to complete the course. It will be announced during the course walk through. When the time ends, the rider can complete the obstacle they are on but then must leave the arena. Points will be given for the obstacles completed.
6 Placings for each division. Placings will start with those competitors that complete the course in the allotted time using their scores. In the event of a tie score in the division, the fastest time will be placed higher. If more competitors are needed to fill the placings for the division, then they will be picked from the remaining competitors who did not complete the course in the allotted time in that division using their scores. Judge’s decisions are final.

Open Jackpot Scoring
This class is timed and placed starting with the fastest completed course time. There will still be a time limit to complete the course and if you run out of time, you must stop and exit the arena.
1. Less than 10 riders in the class, 1-3 placings will have a payout. 10+ riders, 1-6 placings will have a payout. Also 1-6 placings will receive ribbons no matter how many are in the class.
2. Must complete all obstacles within the time limit to be qualified for placings. Then actual completed time plus any penalties will be the qualified time for placings with the fastest overall time winning.
3. Penalties can result in 15 seconds or 30 seconds added to your completed time. It will only be added once on the obstacle.
4. Penalties for 15 seconds … ex: only 3 hooves on bridge instead of 4 hooves; starting obstacle on the wrong side; almost completed obstacle but object fell off at end; knock over cone or pole; etc. It will be the judge’s call if obstacle was basically done but not at a satisfied completion.
5. Penalties for 30 seconds … ex: knocked obstacle over while trying to complete it; attempted obstacle but never completely finished; etc. It will be the judge’s call about the obstacle.
6. If you or your equine fall (not a stumble) on the course, you are disqualified.
